Sewn at Dilly Beans

The theme at Dilly Beans Challenges this week is

Sewn.

I don't sew if i can avoid it, so I did some faux stitching instead.

I pierced the main image and then used a white gel pen

to fill in the faux stitches.

I used #421 framed hooter from Dilly Beans.

So sweet! 

I was going for a clean and simple design, so I just kept piercing,

using a template I ordered from Oriental Trading Company. 

Added some rhinestones and some blind embossing, and this owl will fly! 



Wait, how much was this?

It is no big secret that I like to shop.

I like to shop for crafting supplies, things to re purpose, cool chachkies,

antiques, and curiosities.

I would love to be an estate sale coordinator. I enjoy many facets of

collectibles, antiques, and crap. I think I have a bit of an eye for it.

Last week I happened upon a yard sale and found this cookie jar.

This is a California Originals cookie jar. I haven't been able to place an

actual date on it, but the company started in 1945 and closed their

doors in the early 1980's. They were quite prolific in the production

of pottery artware, and many of their jars are worth quite a it of money in

today's market. I bought it for $10 and have seen them sell for anywhere

from $5 to $110. Not a bad investment.

Since I can't stand to go another minute without some sort of

Walking Dead in my life, I broke down and purchased the

first 50 issues compendium. I am usually not in the habit of reading

a book after I have started the TV show or movie (True Blood), but I have

heard that it is well worth the time to read the actual comics.

I'll let you know.

I also picked up the #100 issue in 6 of the available 12 variant covers.

Even if this is only a gaff, it's beautifully done!

All nestled into their new cloche, looking dapper.

I'm currently thinking of names.

I like Pip and Pop, or Ping and Pong, the best so far.

Freaker's Free for All

Quick post today.

This is for the Macabre Monday challenge at
Haunted Design House,

"Freaker's Free for All".

Basically, anything goes!

I chose to work with "Vamp Me" from our sponsor this week,

Tiddly Inks.

I used a Spica glitter pen to add sparkle to the Vampire and his

intended victim. Kinda sucks that the sparkle doesn't show in pics. 

I also used the headstone and the coffin from another

Tiddly Inks set called, "Vampire Extra pack".  

I adhered everything onto a large Spellbinder floral oval to

anchor all the elements.

Lastly, I added Stickled paper roses to finish it off.

That's it for me. Busy, busy, busy.

Ribbons at Dilly Beans

It's Friday! Which means it's a new challenge at

Dilly Beans Challenge blog.

This week's challenge is to use

ribbons!

Yay! Girly schtuff!!

Some of my fellow DT sistahs think it's funny to see me

create girly and pretty and cute schtuff. 

Someone has to show these chicks how to do it!!

LOL! That's gonna get me on some one's hex list.

I used the fabulous Seahorse #423.

Isn't she gorgeous?! I just adore Megan's style of seahorses.

I think it's the eye that really draws me in, but that mane is just fabulous! 

I received some art grab bags from Megan a week or so ago,

and I was so inspired by her tags that I had to make one!

This thing kind of got away from me a few times, but I managed to

wrangle it in and add a ribbon or two.

I used sequins, rhinestones, white gel pen, tiny die cut scallop shells,

 MS branches for seaweed, and some fibers.

I have a hard time with the whole "less is more" concept.

Ahhhh, ...to be young again.

If I could do it all over again,  I would still marry the same man,

but we would be having a Hallow e'en or a Zombie/horror themed wedding.

My in-laws (the Pentecostals) would be thrilled.

My best friend's niece is getting married in a few weeks and

requested a custom wedding cake topper for her wedding.

Here it is.

I really am quite pleased with myself.

I had to really rein in my tendency to go really bloody.

It is for a wedding after all. And not even a zombie themed

wedding at that.

See, nice and subtle.

She loved her topper and I am glad. Now I don't have to give her a

wedding gift! Ha!

Since I was kind of on a roll, I went with the mojo and made some

more zombified goodies.

This was the second choice topper if Kara didn't like the first one.

"I don't care if you are a zombie, we're getting married!" 

I just love how his fingers are digging into the ground!

And yet he is still smiling.

We all know that Disney is not sacred to me (see this post),

so when I saw this unpainted Donald at a local discount store

I had to pounce!

Just what do you think he has in that tool box of his?

 I really like how this one turned out.

Movie Madness times deux

The challenge over at HDH this week is

Movie Madness.

So I went the route of the overachiever.

I made two projects, but only because I couldn't decide on

which Spesch image to use.

First up, we have ...

Fleetwood.

That's Fleetwood Coupe de Ville, baby!! From "The Wiz". 

This is actually the "Oz Lion" from our sponsor, Spesch Designer Stamps.

I just lurve him! I didn't want go Disney with the creepy/sad Lion King,

and I didn't want to go with the Wizard of Oz, so The Wiz allowed me

the funkadelic color scheme. I watched The Wiz a while back with my

son thinking he'd like it, and he did not. Not at all. It kind of left a bad

taste in my mouth as well. That subway scene is still quite creepy though.

I remember really liking it as a kid back in '78, but kind of like

 the "Dukes of Hazzard", I only really liked it as a kid back in the day. 

My goofy ass husband on the other hand... still loves that c-rap.

 I digress.

I really like this image of ol' Voldy and the gang.

It's called "Voldemort and the Death Eaters", also available at Spesch. 

Killer artwork! I was so inspired even though I am not a huge

Potter geek. I have read all of the books, and I have seen all the films,

and I did cry when I read Dobby's death and at the end of the series.

BUT, I am not a Potter geek. Oh, and I did go out at midnight to get the

Deathly Hallows in 2007. In my defense, we lived in Paris, Texas

 and we were so bored that it seemed the only thrilling thing to do at midnight.

Goin' to the Walmart. Whoopee! I think there were about 15 people there

for books. I bet only half of us could read. 

I hate Texas.

Smudgetastic Monster ATCs

In yet another attempt to step outside of my cozy, creative box,

I am making ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) for the very first time.

I was inspired to play along over at

Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge

with their theme of "Famous Monsters".

I have never made an ATC before, and when I have wanted to

play along with Jenn's challenges in the past, I usually already exceeded

the  size requirements. I tend to work much larger than 3.5" X 2.5". 

Well, not this time!

I have a bunch of awesome digital images from my

Sister Minion Andrea, who is the creative mastermind behind,

Smudgetastic Digis  and

The Smudger Challenge Blog.

I ended up using a few images to make a few ATCs.

I just couldn't stop! So fun!!!!

This is "Drakilly".

I backed him with glittery bat paper and glittery spider tape. 

Everyone's favorite burn victim, "Freddy Krueger".

I backed him with some Hallowe'en scraps (which is perfect for ATCs!)

and the ever popular, MS Drippy Goo punch, complete with Stickles.

I also added some clear glaze Sakura pen to his face and hand for

some texture on Fred's burns. 

Lastly, I have used, The Bride of Frankenstein,

but I'm not sure if she's available in the shop or not.
