Cocktails, anyone?

I made this cute ATC using a Kenny K image.

I also finally got to ink up a cool set of stamps from Inkadinkado

called, "Girl's Night Out", which is perfect for a cocktail party or

a cocktail/liquor inspired project. I bought the set to use for my SIL's

bachelorette  party invites, but due to social media and email, there

wasn't a need for physical invitations.

I guess I'm just old school. 

I like actual books (not e-readers), handwritten letters and

tangible invitations. 

Maybe I'm just old.....

As part of my new outlook for 2013, I'd like to 

start entering more challenges.

Unfortunately, sometimes my 'style' of paper crafting isn't 

fit for mass consumption.  

I am far from a conformist, but I do want to play with 

the big, fancy dogs (sorry ladies) on occasion.

Which means I have to 'fluff up a bit', and make pretty things. 

I can do this. Watch me! 

I have been wanting to play along with Kenny K challenges, 

but haven't been in the right mood. 

His images call for a bit of work to color in all of the details, 

and then the actual card has to be just as detailed (in my mind, anyway).

So, when inspiration hit, I started with this image.

As if she wasn't self explanatory, her name is "Warrior Princess".

She's pretty bad ass, huh? Even with pink hair.

Then, I broke out with my terribly underused, pretty things.

Roses I colored to match my color scheme, a metal heart brad, lots of 

half pearls, a pearl stick pin, and some fancy pearled sprigs.

Yes, I did own all of this pretty schtuff prior to my life as a 

creepy chick crafter. Funny, how personal styles change. 

I admire this style of crafting immensely, and try to imitate it

in my own work when it seems fitting.

LOTS of dimension on this project. 

This will definitely need a padded envelope when it's mailed.

I always have trouble with the whole "less is more" concept,

 but I think I stopped just in time on this one. 

I really enjoyed this project, and adore the way the card turned out.

I can make pretty things, too!

Who are you callin' a Succubus?!



Due to my (un)healthy obsession with television and my

(un)natural love of my DVR, I am officially a TV junkie.

I record so much TV every week, but I do manage to watch

some really cool and strange and funny shows that I would

probably miss if I had to rely on the antiquated way of watching TV.
 

One of my favorite shows to watch is "Lost Girl" on Syfy channel.

At first I wasn't feelin' it, as it started right after "Being Human" and I

had a hard time transitioning from werewolves and vampires, to the world of

the light and the dark Fae. Huh? Isn't that kind of the premise for "True Blood"? 

Anyhoo,
as result of my having a girl crush on "Kenzie" (the main character's sidekick),

 I was inspired for this week's challenge.

Yup! That was me!!  

 

"Who are you callin' a Succubus?!"

 

What exactly IS a Succubus you ask?

In folklore traced back to medieval legend, a succubus (plural succubi) is a female demon or supernatural being appearing in dreams, who takes the form of a human woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual intercourse. The male counterpart is the incubus. Religious traditions hold that repeated intercourse with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or even death.

In modern fictional representations, a succubus may or may not appear in dreams and is often depicted as a highly attractive seductress or enchantress; whereas, in the past, succubi were generally depicted as frightening and demonic.

Now ya know.

I had a bit of a creative roadblock this week.

 No matter how hard I tired to keep in the dark, Gothic vein, the cards I was working on kept going in the vintage, faded direction. I even switched images thinking I could

darken up Jane Jettpack, but she turned out rather vintage in her over all feel.

 

Can you say, "Hottie"?!

 

I used an embossing folder for the red/orange card stock, and

aged it a bit with Distress Inks. I also used a cool new rubber stamp

and stamped it on the ivory stock using Distress Ink and then spritzed it

with water to give it that faded look. This is the first time I have used

this technique, but definitly not the last!

New Kenny K Krush and a Bugaboo boy

Last year I entered the Kenny K "Name that Kitten" contest,

and one of my name submissions, Cheyenne, was a winner.

I received that image plus two more of my choosing. 

I chose my former flame, Mae Western, and my new

sexy lady crush, Harley Ryder.

Tell me this chick isn't hott as all get out!

Once I colored her suit and her face, she was gorgeous.,

But when I finished that bad ass 80's Rocker chick hair,

Miss Harley Ryder was/is my new Kenny K krush.

I am entering her (um, ewww) in the Pretty in Pink challenge

at Kenny K this week.  

Next up is an image I have been wanting to create

with for quite some time.

Too cute with his gothy, little self!

I did try and butch the card up a bit 

since most all of my nephews are now

moody, sullen, angst ridden, teenagers.

Cute doesn't score points with them anymore.  

I absolutely LOVE this postmark stamp.

It's from an awesome company, Leavenworth Jackson.

I popped one of my Glow Skullz (which can be purchased 

on my Etsy site) in the center to finish it off.

Mae Western, I think I love you!

The challenge at Kenny K this week is Aquamarine.

I chose to go more aqua than blue, and she is awesome!!!

I love the huge contrast between the aqua and the orange.

Total opposite sides of the color wheel, but I love it!!

I always saw her in my head as a redhead. HOTTT!!!

The paper was a perfect match and the stars make it possible to

enter this week's Corrosive Challenge which is stars!!

I kept this one really simple so Mae was the main and only

real focus of the card. A few SU star punches and

this dog will hunt!!

This is a late submission for this week's

Macabre Monday challenge.

Basically, it's to represent a bad ass chick on a rampage.

This is a bit mild (and pink) for me, but hey, I've been sick!

This is 'Cheyenne'. 

I entered the Kenny K, "Name that Krash Kitten" contest a while back

and this is the image that Kenny chose to go with the name I submitted.

As a prize I won this image and two others. You'll be seeing them pretty soon. 

This started out as a Valentine's Day card, but once the challenge went out

and then I found this killer "sentiment" to go with my cowgirl, it was on!

(Sorry for the blurry pic - still getting the hang of the new camera.) 

I am rather proud of the coloring on this one. It's in some colors I rarely use,

but I have found that I have the right combo for a nice blended effect.

I got to use some "destash"  which would be the black and white snakeskin ribbon,

and the pink snakeskin paper. I added some bling and some embossed paper, and then

popped some Sizzix corners on for fun.

I made some cute earrings for my Etsy shoppe.

Cute coffin hearts for Valentine's Day.

Glitter and glass beads added to make 'em purdy.

And who doesn't love a coffin cupcake?

So cute, why not get two?

I made a bunch of coffin themed earrings and listed them in

my Etsy shoppe (link is in the sidebar) today.

I am open to custom orders and am willing to put anything on a coffin.

Anything.

Kenny K sketch challenge

Here is my entry for this week's Kenny K challenge.

She was one of the first Kenny K images that  I purchased, and this is the first  time

I have colored her up.

  

I guess I am still in a residual pink haze, but I like pink.

There, I said it. Whatcha gonna do? Pull my creepy card?

I did get to make good use of the drippy goo punch and make a girly card

at the same time.

I dig it and I hope it is randomly drawn for some free digis!  

Miss Fortune, such a naughty girl

Kenny K has released some digital images called Gothik Angelz.

Can we all say amazing?!

These are right up my alley-hole.

This is Miss Fortune.

I decided to use her to enter the challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Girlz blog.

The theme is, 'On the Darkside'.

I think I've got that handled.

I added purple wings on her to really send her to the darkside.

I'm still working on my blond coloring, but with the added bling, I think it works.

 

Still managed to work in a few GlowSkullz for good, creepy measure.

This is the card I am giving my husband for our Anniversary next week.

We are celebrating 14 years of marriage and 23 years together.

Total high school sweethearts. Awwwwww.....

No one is more surprised than both of us that we are still together after all these years.

I ama also taking the easy way out and submitting this

card for my Macabre Monday challenge of "Netherworld Nymphs".

I have been a fan of Kenny Kiernan's art for some time now.

He has a great pin up style all his own.

I am a fan of the gothic girls he draws and thought they would make

a really cool tattoo someday.

Well, Barb over at HDH posted that Kenny K is having a DT call on his

CHALLENGE BLOG, to support his new line of

DIGITAL IMAGES!

Is this image not to die for?

She was bad ass when she was just black and white, but put some

color on this chicky and she really takes off!

She looks so cool and naughty. A look I try to master myself.

I kept it simple since the colors are so bright and I wanted her to really stand out.

I have been so busy lately, that I had to pass on the DT call, but I do want to wish
