Being that I have Halloween on the brain 365 days a year, I'm sure it's no
surprise that I have a few (hundred) unfinished projects lying around.
That doesn't include all of the projects I have been "collecting" things for,
and the ones still bumping around in the ol' nugget.
Always on the look out for possible makeover pieces, I picked this up at
the Dollar Store. Cute, nice size (4"x7"), and a solid frame/shadow box.
I have been wanting to make a mixed media shadow box using
various eclectic findings in a Halloween theme. I began by flipping the box around
and using the backside as a frame. I glued in some Abigail Larson wallpaper
(freebie from her facebook page) in orange.
I used the scraps to add interest to the sides and top of the box.
And then it sat for weeks. Weeks.
I kept adding stuff to the box until I figured there
wasn't anything else to throw in there. And I had
better get busy before it was the end of October.
This is the final result of my chaos.
I think I LOVE it.
I distressed a Dollar Store skeleton lady cameo with TH distress paints,
and strung some seam binding through it. I used a cool button from a dear friend
(thanks, Lynne!), a silk flower, some cheesecloth, a key, and a sprinkling of
Martha Stewart Jack-o-lantern glitter (thanks, Celina!).
The wooden medicine bottle is from Porkchop Show on Etsy, the other
two bottles I made myself, and the skull is another Dollar Store find.
More Porkchop Show pieces for the moon, bat, and grave marker.
Some black paper roses with some Rock Candy Stickles added for
sparkle. And one of those cool spiders that I highlighted with Inka Gold.
Someone had to be responsible for all of that webbing (cheesecloth).
I'd like to share this with the following challenges:
I can guarantee I will making more of these in the future.
I had too much fun! And I think I found all of my schtuff to
make them with. That's progress right there.
Speaking of progress, this is a paper bag album that I started last year.
I got as far as the cover and a couple of inside pages, but never added to it
until this month.
The cover has a pocket with a blank piece of green
card stock with a pretty tab on it.
I stamped and sprayed the bejeezus out of that card stock.
I used a cool, new skull stamp my friend Kristy sent to me for my birthday.

I finally dusted this set of corner stamps off and inked one of them up.
I believe they're wood mount from Inkadinkado.
My secret for almost fool-proof stamping is to use Versafine pigment ink
in black, and then clear emboss the image. Nearly perfect every time, and
a nice dark image. The Versafine picks up the tiniest of details and the embossing
powder must be ultra fine to hold those details. The grain is much smaller than
standard embossing powder.
I spritzed the page with white and black Dylusions inks to break up all of
that lime, and to camouflage a boo-boo. Did you see it?
Here is the little tab using a Stampin' Up tab punch,
a spider brad, and some bright ribbons.
