Who are you callin' a Succubus?!



Due to my (un)healthy obsession with television and my

(un)natural love of my DVR, I am officially a TV junkie.

I record so much TV every week, but I do manage to watch

some really cool and strange and funny shows that I would

probably miss if I had to rely on the antiquated way of watching TV.
 

One of my favorite shows to watch is "Lost Girl" on Syfy channel.

At first I wasn't feelin' it, as it started right after "Being Human" and I

had a hard time transitioning from werewolves and vampires, to the world of

the light and the dark Fae. Huh? Isn't that kind of the premise for "True Blood"? 

Anyhoo,
as result of my having a girl crush on "Kenzie" (the main character's sidekick),

 I was inspired for this week's challenge.

Yup! That was me!!  

 

"Who are you callin' a Succubus?!"

 

What exactly IS a Succubus you ask?

In folklore traced back to medieval legend, a succubus (plural succubi) is a female demon or supernatural being appearing in dreams, who takes the form of a human woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual intercourse. The male counterpart is the incubus. Religious traditions hold that repeated intercourse with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or even death.

In modern fictional representations, a succubus may or may not appear in dreams and is often depicted as a highly attractive seductress or enchantress; whereas, in the past, succubi were generally depicted as frightening and demonic.

I had a bit of a creative roadblock this week.

 No matter how hard I tired to keep in the dark, Gothic vein, the cards I was working on kept going in the vintage, faded direction. I even switched images thinking I could

darken up Jane Jettpack, but she turned out rather vintage in her over all feel.

 

Can you say, "Hottie"?!

 

I used an embossing folder for the red/orange card stock, and

aged it a bit with Distress Inks. I also used a cool new rubber stamp

and stamped it on the ivory stock using Distress Ink and then spritzed it

with water to give it that faded look. This is the first time I have used

this technique, but definitly not the last!

Hiding in the Corners

Have you started your project for this week's HDH challenge yet?

Hiding in the Corners

is the challenge. All you need to do is make something

sinister and adorn the corners. Easy enough?

I chose to indulge myself, and feed my latest crafting addiction.

Artist Trading Cards.

I used Ike's "Honey" image for this serial killer

inspired card. Gotta love a crazy hott bitch with a meat cleaver!

Blood splatters and all corner adornments accounted for.

For this little masterpiece, I have used another

of Ike's images called, "WitchyMou".

Isn't she wonderfully horrible?!

I mounted the image onto an old dictionary page starting with

"blood root". I highlighted the bloody words with some Brick

and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks and a water painter.  

I used some Y26 &Y28 on her teeth and then used a glaze pen

to give them a slimy sheen. I did the same for her eyes. Slimy, I say! 

As the piece de resistance, I used a preciously tiny polymer clay

cauldron, crafted from my talented Minion Sister, Andrea.

I added some potion vapors and bubbles from paper scraps and Stickles.

Perfecto! 

Freaker's Free for All

Quick post today.

This is for the Macabre Monday challenge at
Haunted Design House,

"Freaker's Free for All".

Basically, anything goes!

I chose to work with "Vamp Me" from our sponsor this week,

Tiddly Inks.

I used a Spica glitter pen to add sparkle to the Vampire and his

intended victim. Kinda sucks that the sparkle doesn't show in pics. 

I also used the headstone and the coffin from another

Tiddly Inks set called, "Vampire Extra pack".  

I adhered everything onto a large Spellbinder floral oval to

anchor all the elements.

Lastly, I added Stickled paper roses to finish it off.

So distressed... and some old Rat Fink

This week at HDH the challenge is to distress your project.

I chose to work with this weird little candy corn monster 

from Smeared Ink.

He is so cute in a slobbery and chopped off head, kinda way.

I am in love with this guy. Or maybe it's just his little teefs.
I used some distressed paper from a random Hallowe'en
paper pack. Then, I added a distressed bit of the cover from a
TH Hallowe'en paper pack, and worked it over pretty good
 with a sanding block and the TH distressing tool.
I think I like using scissors better.
I added some cool webbed ribbon in green and black and even
snuck in that cool bug ribbon that I bought last season and
never managed to work into a project until now.

I still have another Smeared Ink project to fininsh up,
using one of their cool Death Cab images. Stay tuned.

The three day weekend gave my husband time to clean up
his man cave (a.k.a. the garage), and he ran across a box of
goodies from my past.

I have always been a fan of Rat Fink and

Big Daddy Ed Roth's Kustom Monsters

 since the seventies.

This toy is from 1990 though. Not really vintage quite yet.

I even managed to keep the unused sticker card intact as well. 

I loved going into KayBee Toys and TRU, and hitting up the clearance

aisles. KayBee was always a good one for cool clearance items.

Some people just didn't know what was really cool back then.

Back in the olden days of the early 1990's.

When I die, my son is going to make his living off of

ebaying all of my cool shit.

Some of my schtuff is going to the grave with me though.

I have compiled a rather extensive list, with my original

Fischer Price stuffed Kermit the Frog from 1976, topping the list.

Still gonna be a greedy little miser even in death.

 

Gothic Make Over at HDH

This week at Haunted Design House

we wanted to see what those cute or non-Goth

images would look like all Gothed up.

What better images to give a little dark side make over?

Besides Tilda images, I mean.

I chose to work with, Dreds.

I fell for this image as soon as I saw her.

The coloring of the dreds was alot of work, but fun

to color just the same. 

I went with the standard Goth color scheme of

purple and black.

Then I went into sparkle overload with all kinds of

glitters, both fine and chunky.

I destashed some purple fleurs and a black feather.

I have tons of these things! Which are near impossible to

wrangle into a container without scrunching them.

And I added a green stick pin to match her eyes.

I almost always color eyes green. Can't help it.

I'm a green eyed lady myself.

  



Hell in a handbasket (or a jewelry box)

It's that time of week again when I play show and tell.

Here is my latest project.

It's the first of two (so far) Zombie Cherub jewelry boxes.

I found a couple of these little boxes at the thrift store.

I really liked the frame feature which allowed me to

personalize and customize my piece.

I made a little collage for the insert keeping with my

fat, rotten, cherub theme.  

I repainted the box black and then used a dry brush

technique with a nice metallic bronze to give it some shine.

I then hand painted each of the five cherubs to resemble

zombies.

I adorned each side of the box with a little putrid cherub.

Looks like this one scored a rib cage. And some fruit.

This one is so full he needs a nap.

And this one enjoys a good read after a big meal.

Here is the inside which is in really nice shape.

It is the perfect place to store your zombie themed jewelry

and trinkets.

Speaking of hoarders trinkets...

I got some new schtuff from my dear friend and

brilliant clay artist, Michell Covington.

My little bat friend,

Sid the Serious.

It was love at first sight. For me, anyway.  

Cool bat winged ankh pendant.

Then my coveted and highly anticipated

Wooded Woods

sculpture arrived.

I realize she isn't for everyone, but I loves my

Antichrist in Skull Bunny form

handmade Festive Dead ornament by Kamila Mlynarczyk.

She watches you as try to avoid her sunken gaze. 

And yeah, maybe she scratched me a little with her

blood stained finger claws. She didn't mean to.

I'm sure it was my fault somehow.

I know she loves me....

she told me so.



Wretched Wednesday - Can I quote you on that?

This week's challenge at HDH is all about quotes.
I am a big fan of the written word and I really
enjoy a good, thought provoking, or witty
little quip worth repeating.
In my head, that's a good quote. One that bares repeating.
I have a couple of books of quotations and many notebooks
of quotes that I have enjoyed and jotted down over the years.

Mae West was always good for a smart citation.

I chose just one of her many zings, and matched it with

this great zombie chick found on Simply Betty's PCP site.

I colored her with Copics andadded some MS border punches

 a some Spellbinders die cuts. I decided to keep the colors bright and

cheery to give it a springtime feel despite the bloody connotations.

I had so much fun with this one, that I may just

have enough mojo left to make another card inspired

by yet another favorite quote. 

There is still plenty of time to play along with this week's

challenge at the Haunted Design House.

Remember, it's all based on your interpretation of a

favorite quote. You can't go wrong here.

I'm running a bit behind today.

A much needed nap turned into a marathon snooze that

left me totally scrambled and less than enthusiastic about

my undone chore list for the day.

This week's challenge at Haunted Design House

seems to have stumped even our most loyal and creative

weekly followers.

The challenge is called, Evil Empire.

You are supposed to choose your favorite Disney

villain and make a project using your chosen

bad guy or gal as your inspiration.

Now that can mean anything from using Maleficent's

color scheme of black and purples, to making your project

with an Arabian flair to show us the evil Jafar. 

I chose the absolute scariest Disney villain ever...  

                                     Chernabog
(also known as Satan) is the massive nocturnal devil and the main antagonist in Night on Bald Mountain, who holds power over various restless souls. His name is taken from Chernobog, a deity of Slavic mythology; the name is Slavic for "black god". While officially a pagan god, it should also be noted that Chernabog might have originally been intended to be Satan: when "Night on Bald Mountain" appeared on the original Wonderful World of Disney, Walt Disney referred to Chernabog as "Satan himself." Deems Taylor also refers to Chernabog as "Satan" in the film.

I found two really cool pictures on google and kept it

all pretty simple. Primary colors are not my favorite to work

with, but didn't realize how prominent they were until I was

too far to turn back. 

I UTEE'd this image to make it look like a tile,

and I used my favorite sentiment ever, the

"Heathen's Greetings" from Leavenworth Jackson.

There are a ton of awesomely horrendous villains

to choose from in the Disney archives.

Maybe a character who wasn't intended to be a bad guy

is your most detested villain. Show us!!

Wretched Wednesday - Terrible Twos

good time to pick up those images you have been

"thinking" of getting.

I decided to jump right into spring with this little number.

I used the "Zombie Bunny" image from Dilly Beans.

I printed him out once in black and then I flipped the image,

lightened up the opacity, and enlarged it, before printing him

again. I colored them both with Copics, but the larger one

got more of a faded look. I cut it into quarters and mounted

everything up on black and green papers and stocks.

Simple, yet effective.  

Such a perfect image for those of us who like

things a bit on the macabre side for all occasions.

I hope Megan makes a new Zombie for upcoming

occasions like Thanksgiving and the 4th of July.

Can't you just see this guy with a pilgrim's hat

or in an Uncle Sam get up?

I made this card only in black and green so I could

enter this week's Dilly Beans challenge of black & green.

Wretched Wednesday - Chic Freak

It is Wretched Wednesday!!

Are you ready to get your freak on?!

Now I can remember the very first time I set

my eyes upon a Daniel Torrente image.

I can distinctly recall thinking happily, that someone had

finally tapped into the alternative, unique, not so cute,

slightly creepy, vein of rubber stamps.

Stampotique is still one of my very favorite

stamp companies to this day, with Daniel's

images at the top of my must have list.

This week's sponsor for Macabre Monday

The challenge this week is

Chic Freaks.

I started off with the awesome and versatile Bat Like Wings

stamp and my favorite little bat buddy, Batboy.

I altered him a bit by chopping off his usual party hat

and adding those killer wings.

I used some die cuts and cool word art

from Ginger's House.

Topped it all off with some rhinestones, and voila!

He's chic and a freak!!

But I'm not done yet!

This is my new favorite image called simply,

3 Smiles.

I decided to do some clean and simple cards

using Distress inks to "color" the faces.

I went over the eyes and the smiles with VersaMark

and then clear embossed to keep them white.

Then I used TH Distress Inks in various colors and some 

sponge daubers to blend the colors together.

I left them blank until I need them for a specific reason

or occassion. It's good to have blank cards on hand.

I had a blast (as usual) creating with the awesome stamps

from Stampotique.

Wretched Wednesday - Pumpkinhead

This week's Macabre Monday challenge is

Movie Madness: Pumpkinhead. 

Now I totally grew up on the horror of the 70's and the 80's.

I remember the teenage neighbors coming home from the 

theater after seeing the original Friday the 13th. I begged them for 

details and then went around to all of my friends acting as if I had

actually seen the movie myself. What a little poseur. Ha!

Even though the film "Pumpkinhead" was a flop when it was 

released back in 1988, it has gone on and attained cult status

in today's pop culture.

With my mojo being on reserve these days, I did manage to

come up with something kinda cool.

This is a work in progress. Hopefully, I can get it finished

tonight. The Copics that I used to color this guy with are very

sticky right now. And the markers don't blend worth a turd on this

plastic either. Hmmm. I'm already vested here, so it's too late

to start something new.

I do have pretty good turd polishing abilities, so stay tuned.

I haven't totally been resting on my laurels.
Where are my laurels exactly?

I did make some new skulls.
These are way cooler than my old skulls.
I am making these into magnets, pendants, and using them as
embellishments on my new coffin plaques.
