Long in the Tooth and the eclipse

It is Wretched Wednesday already, and I have my

toothy inspiration piece to show you!!

Long in the Tooth is the challenge at HDH this week,

I scrapped a few projects before coming up with this card.
I was very determined to use all of the elements I had chosen.
Regardless of whether they worked or not. 

I printed out some cool dental diagrams I found on

Google images. I printed them onto kraft stock,

colored the teeth with a white pastel pencil,

 and then aged the panels with distress inks. 

I used my favorite stamp from Paper Make Up Stamps

called, Chomps.

I think he's still available as a digi, but they no longer carry rubber.

I added the "I Bite" sentiment and layered it onto a Spellbinder die cut.

I had to add some blood splatter to the sentiment to give it the

"Goria" treatment.

There is still lots of time to come up with a tooth or dental

inspired project for Haunted Design House's 

 "Long in the Tooth" challenge.

The deadline for entries is Sunday at 5PM, CST.

And now for some eclipse photos.

My husband and I were not overly excited about the eclipse,

but once it started, we were running around making viewers

out of paper towel tubes and kept checking back every few

seconds to see if it had changed any in appearance since

the last time we checked. Two seconds ago.

Our son, who is 12 was less than enthused.

He grew tired of the show soon after it began.

Some people's kids! 

This is a shot of our back fence. It was taken of the eclipse

through the shadow of our apricot tree. Each little semi circle

is the sun being eclipsed by the moon. So cool!

Since I am ignorant to whether you can photograph an

eclipse with a regular camera, I tried it on the sly.

Well, it didn't ruin my camera, and I got some cool

pictures, but nothing that showed the actual eclipse.

Maybe I'll get another chance in another 18 years or so. 

Sweet Card Sundae

I realize that I am not known for my cute card style,

but unfortunately, I cannot give Grandma Great a card

with skulls and monsters on it for her birthday.

Sometimes, I have to make cards for the masses, the norms,

the straight laced, and even the religious. Yup, I said it.

I won't say it again though...

So I chose this day of the week to display the cute

side of this creepy bugg. If you don't come here for cute,

... see ya tomorrow.

I have had this "Fly Away" Greeting Farm set for years.

Refused to part with it, and now finally used it.

And destashed this bright, happy paper and

some rhinestones too. 

I have been quite busy coloring images lately.

I'll be making more projects this week to strike a balance

between the creepy and the cute.

Don't wanna lose my Creepy Bitch card.

Mainstream Birthday

I just looked at my calendar, and I have

quite few birthdays coming up!

I had some "yet to be inked" rubbah that kept

squealing at me, so I inked their little butts up!

This image is from Paper Make Up Stamps, but

I bought it in rubber during their close-out before going

completely digital, so I'm not sure if she is still available.

Her name is Olive.

She has a sparkly cupcake.

Cocktails anyone?

I hid a botched coloring job on her dress

with lots of Doodlebug glitter.

It matched purrr-fectly.

Now I have to go make some photograph cards.

I have a ton of photos of fleurs and trees and schtuff.

I need to use them in some way, so I make cards

with a simple sentiment and a lovely photo taken by moi.

These are perfect for those people who don't really appreciate

all the work that goes into a handmade card, but get butt hurt

if they don't get one. I love my SIL, but she is one of those

people that don't really appreciate art, and will throw away

a handmade card as if it was from the Dollar Store.

No offense taken, but she doesn't get a fancy schmancy card from me.

Father's Day Fallout

I don't have a relationship with my father.

Maybe we are just too much alike. Yikes.

I did send him a card for the first time in three years.

More for me, than for him, but I sent one.

I don't want a phone call, but I do want him to know

I love him.

That being said, I do have three wonderful men in

my life who do deserve a heartfelt Father's Day card.

This one was for my FIL.

I was going for CAS and I managed it okay I think.

I am still new to single layer cards, but it did come together 

quite quickly. 

I opted for a handwritten sentiment as I don't have

any Father's Day stamps. I used Mercius from SBS.

I kept him monochrome to cut down

on my coloring time (which can take up to an hour or more!).

This one is for my other FIL who is a Mac geek.

This image is specifically for him. Perfect! I knew 

instantly when I saw it at Tiddly Inks ,

I had to have it for him. 

I totally struggled with the right sentiment and I finally

decided to go with a binary code with happy father's day

hidden within. Totally homemade, but effective.

I kept this one as a single layer card so I could play along with

the challenge at Tiddly Inks. 

Lastly, is my favorite card.

I immediately fell in love with the image when I saw it last year

at Paper Make Up Stamps.

This one is for my husband, who we both agree is

a much better father than either of us had.

He is awesome, and my son I are both uber blessed to

have him in our lives.

Happy (belated) Father's Day!
