Always in the Naughty Corner

Growing up as an only child meant that I was

always in trouble because there was no one else around

 to blame shit on. I was easily bored, what can I say?

I was always on restriction or grounded. Most of my summers

and school vacations were spent with a chore list, and a

consequence if the list wasn't completed by end of day. Which actually

meant end of business day, so 4 PM when my Mom got home from work.

And even though I crossed stuff of the list as I went, I always

managed to miss something, or more often than not, I just

didn't do it right. Which makes sense in retrospect because

I didn't start doing stuff on the list until about 3:30PM.

Kids are so dumb. Or maybe it was just me... 

Which brings me to my card for today.

The new challenge at HDH is The Naughty Corner.

What's really nice about these challenge themes is that you can 

interpret them any way you'd like, as long as they're creepy,

risque, Gothic, Steampunk, or Hallowe'en inspired in some way.

No cute shit in the dungeon. That doesn't fly with the Minions. 

Anyhoo, this schmexy sistah is from a now defunct(or renamed?)

shop that is no longer carrying her, so I'm going to call her,

"Helllloooooo Nurse!". Any Animaniacs out there?

Nevermind... 

I am quite pleased with how her mask turned out. 

I made the mistake of coloring it with flesh tones first, but

after some colorless blender and blue greens, I think it 

gives the impression I was hoping for.

  

She works perfectly with this sentiment set from

Hambo Stamps. I just love their funny two part sentiments.

But, it looks as though they are selling off the last of their stock,

 so snatch 'em up while you still can.  

See?

Get Well Greetings part deux

Just a quick share of the latest card I sent to my friend who is

currently recovering from a double aneurysm.   

I used a sentiment and a death cab, both from the
Death Cab digi set from Smeared Ink.  

This is Hearse 3 from the set, and it is also sold separately.

My friend just returned home last week after her extended stay at the hospital.

I am itching to get over to her house to see her, so this sentiment says it all.

Thanks for dropping by today. 

She gets me, and I get her

The week before last, I received a very disturbing phone 

call from a very dear friend. I could hardly recognize her voice.

But I did make out that she had had a stroke.

I was, and still am, floored by this news.

She is only in her late 30's, takes great care of herself, has been

Vegan for pretty much all of her life. WTF?!

She had a double aneurysm, which fortunately was only leaking, and 

didn't burst. And then she had to have emergency brain surgery to 

stop the aneurysms, which has a 50% mortality rate all it's own.

Now she has a pretty shaved head, 50 staples, and a huge scar on her 

head. But she's alive, and making a great comeback.

All that said, she has a strange sense of humor, which makes sense that

we "get" each other so well. So, being the card maker that I am, 

I made her a get well card.

I'm pretty sure she's going to love this!

I used a great image from Smeared Ink's "Gross Anatomy" set, 

appropriately called, "Lobotomy".

I also got to use my tattered banners die from Tim Holtz for the

first time. I think I need some practice folding them, and it is better

to use a thicker card stock, as opposed to the thin paper I used.  

I am always saving weird pictures off the net.

This one is pretty weird.

I always tell my son that we had his tail cut off at birth.  

  And my witty sentiment on the inside.

I had to get that picture of the nurse in there somehow.

I cropped out the ventriloquist dummy lying on the cot at her feet.

It killed me to do so, but I ran out of room.

Thanks for dropping by today.

I'll have a few more weird get well creations in the coming weeks.

She already got her stitches out, and should be coming home this week!

I like to think it's my inspirational cards that have helped her to heal so quickly.    

  

Get Well dammit!!!

I have a quick post today to show you

this cute little Get Well card I made using

Bugaboo Stamps Nurse image.

Isn't she just wicked?! Must be the syringe full of

pink meds! Hospitals would be way more inviting if the

nurses wore pink uniforms and high heels.

This little vixen is from the Sassy Girls line at Bugaboo.

I colored the rhinestones with Copics to match

the pinks on the card. I also sponged around the 

image while it was still in the Spellbinder die

with SU Cool Caribbean ink. 

The inside sentiment and band-aid stamps are

from Hambo Stamps. They have some of the best 

sentiments available anywhere! 

I dedicate this card to all the "Naughty Nurses" out there!

Can't contain the creepy

First off, the sun is actually shining today! It's been like 10 days straight of rain and gloom. I need my vitamin D, or I get all pastey and foul. I would not fair well in a place like Seattle or somewhere that doesn't get much sun. Those periods of complete dark in Alaska would kill me, but I guess you make up for it with the days of straight daylight. I'll stay in California, thank you very much.

Okay, when I saw this guy in the digital images section of Hambo stamps, I knew I had to have him and I knew exactly what Hambo sentiment I would pair with him.

I'm still a bit torn over using the Martha Stewart DP, but it's finished and it looks 'aight'.

I had a blast making him look like he had just been in surgery. I used the "booger sucker thingy" to give the illusion of blood spatter on his coat. I had to pop his hands and brain up on pop dots, because when I used the crystal effects to give it all a wet look, the

c-rap never turned clear! It stayed opaque. Boo.Hiss. I think that stuff is pretty old, so I threw it out so I'm not tempted to possibly ruin another project.

This is one of my favorite sentiments from those kooky kids over at Hambo. 

I know just the post-op guy who deserves this card - and a laugh.
