Kraftin' Kimmie, how I've missed you

Today I have a card I made with

with the awesome image, "Perfect Poison",

from the insanely talented artist, Annie Rodrigue.

I have had this image for far too long and am just

thrilled to finally ink her up and make something

this pretty and spring-like.

I really LOVE this image. I had alot of fun coloring her

with Copics and what I consider to be spring colors for the

challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie.

The colors in her dress remind me of gorgeous spring blooms

like crocuses and irises. I cannot wait for the sun to finally 

bring out those colors in my own yard. The wisteria is huge with buds

just begging to bloom out in their full violet regalia!!  

One of my trademark Glow Skullz adornes the center

of my cute Sizzix layered fleur. I wanted to bring out

the yellow in "Poison's" dress and used it for the

Happy Birthday banner.

One of my favorite people in blogland,

Nancy at "Another MD Crabbie"

has this awesome ability with paper and dimension. I tried my

best to mimic her arched bits (nothin' naughty I promise) and gave

the banner some dimension Nancy-style!

My husband finally caught up with me this week

and turned 40!

He refused any kind of party or fan fare, other than

making tamales. Must be getting old. No party?! 

I made him a really cute card though.

I used "Scott" from

Simply Betty Stamps "Sweet Gothic World Kids" line.

He immediately reminded me of my husband back when he

was a teenager. Must have been the goatee. Plus, my husband has

a skeleton tattoo on his arm like the image does.

The pinata originally had a "Happy Birthday" sentiment on it,

but I totally mucked it up so bad while coloring it that I had to 

cover it with something! I had this chipboard sticker and it fit 

pretty well. I also "destashed" and used some metal embellishments

for the Happy Birthday sentiment. 

He liked the card, but he loved his plain cheesecake and 

12 pack of Blue Moon Seasonal Sampler. 

 

Happy Birthday to my spawn

Today is my son's 11th birthday. Where has the time gone? One day they are this tiny little lump of life, and then they grow into this huge, smelly, garbage disposal of a smart mouth kid!

At the time I purchased this, my son was on the Play Station constantly.

Then we got the laptop fixed...

Now I need a Sims image.

 

Still kinda looks like him (my son), and it has the same distant, "You're in my way, Mom. Can't see the screen", look that my son has periodically.

I purposely stand in front of the TV just to jerk his chain.

That's why I had a kid.

So I could mess with him and tell him fantastical tales of horrible untruths.

I've only been at it for 11 years, and I still have so much more

damage to do!

No, I love my boy, and I am fiercely protective of him.

He's the coolest kid I know and he is so bleepin' funny sometimes it's hard to 

remember he's only 11 years old.

Birthday Wishes

One of my dearest (and oldest) friends is having a birthday today.

I called her last night to wish her a happy birthday for today, since she was going out of town first thing in the morning. 

Her response was, "Where's my fancy card?".

Now if it was any one else, I would have told them their

fancy card was at the fancy card store.

But, since it was Dani, and since she is probably getting a 

little senile at her age, I let it pass. 

I know she reads my blog pretty regularly, and I didn't want

to ruin the surprise of this card, so I waited to post it,

and forgot to send it!

Luckily, she is out of town and I can drop it in the mail today.

When she gets back on Saturday, she'll have a fancy card to open.

I used my Copics to color these rhinestones. They were clear to begin with.

I was running my mouth to a fellow DT member about how you can color anything with

Copics, including these cool, faceted baubles she had on her recent post.

Well, she informed me that I was sadly mistaken and that after trying to color them with her Copics, they were not attractive at all.

Sorry Eulanda.

I'll just stick to coloring ribbon and rhinestones.
