Farewell challenge for Delicious Darkness

Today marks the beginning of the end of the challenges,

and the stores known as Delicious Darkness, and Delicious Doodles.

Due to new tax laws going on the books in 2015, many UK digi shops will be 

closing down for good. Unfortunately, the Delicious shops are 

scheduled to do the same at the beginning of the new year.

Teri is offering generous discount codes for both of her shops.

Grab those images now, while they're offered at such a great discount!

If you can't take advantage of this fabulous sale and are

devastated like the rest of us that these shops are closing,

you will still be able to access Teri's darker art from 

Smeared Ink. Yep! The girls at SI have stepped up and are 

offering Teri's images in rubber and digi!! Nice, right?

Our final challenge theme for this month is 

Anything Goes. 

And if you're feeling extra adventurous, the twist is 

Creepy Crimbo.

I have been on a bit of a tag kick lately.

I'm trying to build up a reserve of them for next year. 

I used Teri's Skully Xmas Wreath for these tags.

I colored them with Copics in different color schemes,

added a gem to the center, and lots of Stickles for added

sparkle.

I just stamped "To: and From:" on the backs to make them gift tags.

I think these would be great as inexpensive Hexmas ornaments, too.

    

I went for a relatively CAS look for this card.

I really wanted that Ram's Skull image front and center.

Such a wicked image!

After coloring it in with Copics, I backed it onto some layered 

twig wreath die cuts, embellished with half pearls to look like

ornaments. I added the barbed wire die cut because it was looking

really bare. I like how this turned out. Not too fancy, so it's perfect

for a masculine friend or family member.

I added this festive sentiment to the inside to finish it all off.

Lucky #13 Day 13

Today is starting out to be quite the busy day for me.

I have a Halloween themed Delicious Darkness art project to share.

I will also be sharing my latest and greatest Universal Monster

procurement from ebay.

I made another tabbed insert to go in my paperbag album.

I'm going to finish that thing this year if it kills me.

And it just may.

I used the Aquarius image from Delicious Doodles Horrorscope line.

She just oozes Halloween doesn't she?

Among other things....  

I used the Stampin' Up tab punch and added a big ol' jack-o-lantern 

brad to make it super Halloweenie. And let's not overlook that

fabulous ribbon. It's one of my favorites for Halloween projects. 

I added the Black Bat label that was cut out of some random dp.

I like the look of that label. Makes the whole page look like a spooky

advertisement in a Halloweentown paper.

Here is my new treasure!!
I am a collector of many things, and one of them is vintage metal lunch boxes.

I have many non-vintage ones as well, but the old ones are my true gems.

This one is only 9 years younger than me. 

I think that qualifies as vintage. 

It's in pretty good shape considering most kids used to bowl

with theirs on the blacktop, and in the concrete halls at school. 

I know I did, anyway.

Super nice graphics. Bright colors.

And there he is! All smiles, and waving like a sweet lagoon creature. 

Slight dent, but not too bad. I have some boxes in worse shape.

These two make me giggle.

And I just had to share the inside. Most lunch boxes look as

though someone left a dirty diaper in it, and then closed it up for 

20 plus years. I have scrubbed such boxes before. 

I just keep telling myself, "It's just sandwiches and bananas."

Even without the thermos, I am thrilled with this purchase.

Delicious Darkness - Gotta Be Gothic

Well an entire month just flew by and we are ready

to begin our second challenge at Delicious Darkness.

The theme is always Anything Goes, but there is also an added twist,

if you'd like to be inspired and challenged further. 

The twist for this month is Gotta be Gothic.

I'm not sure that my make really qualifies for a Gothic feel, but tombstones

can be considered Gothic, right?

Of all of the the tombstones in this set, Tombstone 6

is my favorite. I began by making a shrinky dink charm of this

tombstone, but it warped the image a bit and it looked too

wonky to use. I need to master my shrink plastic technique. 

So, I switched gears and came up with this instead. Mucho bettah.

Out of the Creepy Eye set, the Reptile Eye is my absolute

favorite. I cut the center out of the tombstone, and replaced it with

this awesome eyeball. I popped the tombstone up on foam bits to give it some depth. 

 I used a cool reptile-like embossing folder to mimic the skin of the 

critter, and then used some Inka Gold metallic rub in green to give it some

of that cool reptilian shimmer and shine. Added some orange acrylic dots to

play off of the eye color.

Today is the very first day, of the very first challenge at
Delicious Darkness Challenges.

What's that, you're not familiar with Delicious Darkness?

Well, since you may have been living under a rock, I'll explain.

Delicious Doodles is the mainstream digital image shop of my

fellow Minion Sistah, Teri. Teri has embraced her dark side over the years,

and has amassed quite an impressive collection of darker themed, digital images. 

The new digi shop, Delicious Darkness was born! 

And what better way to spread the disease, but to start a challenge blog 

featuring a wickedly talented DT, and Teri's wonderfully 

dark, and beautifully drawn images.

The new challenges will begin on the thirteenth of each month.

Every challenge theme will keep strictly to the dark side. 

No fluff for this group!

Wanna see what I made for our Anything Goes theme?

Let me introduce you to "Corvus Coralyne",

available in the Delicious Darkness digi shop. 

See? I wasn't kidding when I said Teri was quite the accomplished

dark artist. Her images are fun and nearly fool-proof to color, regardless

of your choice of coloring medium. I nearly always use Copics to color everything.

Teri's images come with nice, crisp lines and shading, which provides for a professional, 

and beautiful end result. 

After coloring this dark beauty, I adhered her onto black cardstock.

I used some really old, random Hallowe'en dp, mounted it onto more black card,

and glued it all wonky onto the card base. An orange ribbon and a black

feather finish it all off. I usually like to keep the image the focus of the card, so I 

try not to overwhelm it all with tons of embellies and goodies.

Rotten to the core

This week at Haunted Design House the theme is

ROTTEN ROMANCE.  

Been there, done that.

I decided to make a heart shaped ornament using burlap.

I cut heart shapes out of burlap and then "glued" them together

using pearl mica flake compound. It gave the heart a nice solid

center to adhere my goodies onto. Plus it made for a cool

glittery center when dry. Win, win!

I colored up this awesome Grotesque Cupid from 

Delicious Darkness.

I fussy cut him out and then I clear embossed him a couple of times

for added strength and shininess. 

After embossing and before gluing him and his polar opposite brother into place,

I added some chip board flourishes in the background for more interest and sparkle.

I added some red foil embossing powder onto the existing silver glitter to make it stand out. 

Lastly, I ran some TH tinsel twine through a eyelet, to hang my heart ornie.
