Useless Trinkets Halloween Hop

EDIT: My apologies to my Hop mates and to those of you
trying to hop along in order on Saturday. I didn't get my post
auto posted properly and ended up being the weakest link in this hop.
I hate it when that happens...

It's that time of year again, when the amazingly talented
Jessa of Useless Trinkets fame generously shares her art with the
masses for the incredibly low price of ....FREE.
Yes, you read that right, she gives her art away for free.
Because she's cool like that.

I was inspired by the gathering of multiple new monsters
and my dear DT mate Arwen, to try my hand at making jewelry.
I began with some shrink plastic that I taped to a sheet of printer paper
and printed the new kids in fairly large sizes. Maybe 3 inches high, or so.

I used Copics to color everyone on the rough side of the plastic.
I trimmed all the monsters and bats out, punched the holes for the findings,
and then used a heat gun to shrink them down to size. I added some white gel
pen as highlights for more interest.

I added the charms to a ready made charm bracelet a few links apart
to give everyone space to shine individually.

Some of the highlights worked out better than others...

I added some silver charms and glass beads to the bracelet
to fancy it up some. And to make it look fuller and prettier.

I may be wearing this to work next week.

Be sure to hop along to all of the blogs and see what
fun and creative projects everyone has cooked up with the new
freebies. And don't forget to grab your very own freebies, too!

Useless Trinkets Easter Addition

It's that time again!
Jessa at Useless Trinkets has drawn up some super cute and fun
Easter themed freebies for you to play with.
I know it's hard to believe that someone with such marketable talent
would be willing to just give her drawings away for free, but that's
precisely what Jessa insists upon doing.
She's just cool and  generous like that.

First up is Gustav, the Easter Monstah.

Gustav is filling in for the Easter Bunny, who apparently has taken ill....

Jessa has also created some cute sentiments to go along with the new images.
Be sure to grab them while you're visiting her freebie page.

I have been wanting to create a shaker card for months now.
I have been collecting sequins and schtuff to fill my shakers, and
I have been watching various tutorials on how to make simple,
Fuse tool-free shaker cards on YouTube. After all of my preparation
I figured now was as good a time as any to give it a go.

I began by coloring up the Easter version of Cookie Jar, the Unicorn.
I went with a rainbow color palette. I thought it went well with the cute cloud paper.
And unicorns and rainbows kind of go hand in hand, don't they?

I remember my cherished sticker album as a kid was full of rainbow unicorn stickers.
This was one of my favorites.

Now I did mention that this is my very first attempt at making a shaker
card, right? It's a little rough, but I think I did okay.

Some key advice would be to use a heavier stock of paper
to go over the shaker part. My paper is super thin, so it really
shows the wrinkles and even tore a bit, too. Still, it's not too shabby
for my first attempt. I'll be trying this technique again now that I have
figured out some of my mistakes. Practice makes perfect.

Thanks for stopping by today.
I hope you'll pop by Jessa's blog and grab these awesome new freebies.
Be sure to bunneh hop along with the Freebie DT to see all of the clever
ways we've used these great images and sentiments.

Useless Trinkets new freebie release

Today is the release of new images at Useless Trinkets.
FREE, new images. Along with all of the other adorable and FREE
images already there. If you haven't checked them out yet, you should.
And if you already have, then you need the new images and matching sentiments.
Did I mention that they're FREE? Don't even get me started. I have no idea
why the heck Jessa isn't charging for these images, but hurry up and grab 'em
before she comes to  her senses and realizes she has a goldmine on her hands.

First up is "Harriet".
She is unassumingly psychotic. I like that in a girly image.

Gives her a nice edge.
Kinda sharp and rusty, like old garden shears...

I found a fitting sentiment and a cool charm to go with it.
I paired it all up with some super old dp I have had for years. I loved it
so much I bought a shit ton of it, and still have at least a half a
shit ton of it left.

So, I kinda adore little miss "Harriet".
She's fun and great for all ages and occasions.

My new favorite image from the imaginative and adorable mind of
Jessa is, "Fluffy Gustav"

He is adorable, no?
I am relatively new to coloring fur, but I don't hate how this came out.
It's fun fur!

Since "Fluffy Gustav" is so much fun to play with, I thought I'd use
him in another card you can never make too many of, a 'get well' card.

I went with a dot technique for this version of Gustav.
Much faster and easier to color fur this way.
Plus, it's more whimsical.

Jessa came up with some super cute and sweet Valentine sentiments
for this fluffy monster, so I was inspired to make a couple VD cards.

Who can resist a cotton candy monster?
Bearing gifts, no less?

I went for a more classic color scheme here.
Tryin' to class up the joint, I guess.
It's gonna take more than a fancy color scheme to class
up this chick and my ridiculousness.

I broke out the big doily and a smaller black doily with some
pearl spray on it. I am so happy to be using these things. I have quite
a few of them, but can stand to use up a few.

So, Gustav is super cute. You need him in your stash of awesome FREE
images. He comes in various versions with different accessories and don't
for get the cool sentiments and Harriet, too!

Here's the hop order in case you get lost along the way.
Thanks for dropping by!

Less of a hop, more of a shamble

I am kind of super excited to share today's post with you!
Ya see, I have this friend named, Jessa, and she has a blog called,
Not only does Jessa make the most amazing CAS cards, but she
is also quite the talented artist. She draws the cutest critters and monsters.
And she gives them away for FREE!! Yes, all of her images are freebies.
She's cool like that. Reeeeally cool, right?

Today Jessa is releasing some new Halloween Edition images,
and has asked a few of us to shamble along with her and show off our
sample projects.

The is Igor Van Gore.
I don't think he has any idea how cute he really is.
Did I forget to mention that not only does Jessa give away her images,
she usually includes various sentiments, too? Igor comes with a blank board
so you can add any message you want for any occasion.
The one I used comes with Igor. And it's pretty much how I feel every year.

This guy's name is Happy, the Narwhal.
Now this giddy fellow isn't actually part of the new release, but I did
gussy him up a bit using the bat with nail accessory that comes with
the new Zombie Cookie Jar set.
The sentiment is from the original Cookie Jar, the Unicorn set.
All of which are available at Useless Trinkets. Right now.
But don't run off just yet...

And then we have this little lady.
Edey is her name. Libraries and brains are her game.
Adorbs, right? And I don't use that hideous term willy nilly.
She's worth the eye rolls for that one.

I am loving the newest additions to the fabulous freebies
Jessa has to offer. I suggest you head right on over to
Useless Trinkets and check out all of the fun and quirky digital
images available. For free, in case I failed to make that clear earlier.

Here is the hop order for your hopping convenience.
Stop by and leave some love for the incredible sample projects.
