We're Baaaaaack!!!!

That's right kiddies, 

the Minions are back in the dungeon!!!!!!

We have started the Macabre Monday challenges up  again for 2013.

The rules are same, but we've changed to a bi-monthly/fortnightly challenge.

That's right! Now you have two weeks to procrastinate before you play along with us! 

We have also split up into teams to make it even easier on our lazy asses,

so I'll be posting my projects on the second week.

HDH073: Smudgetastic  

This week's Macabre Monday challenge is to color your image(s) with

pencils, charcoal, pastels, chalks, etc., giving a smudged appearance.

I have never thrown away a card I was working on simply because it

was not salvageable. Today, I threw away two cards.

Geesh! Who'd have thought that a smeared or smudged card

would be so hard to create?!

I threw in the towel and just made a cute little card with minimal smudges.

The awesome bat image was drawn by our newest addition to

the dungeon, Andrea! This chick is so talented in so many mediums.

She is quite an inspiration and a fount of new blood for our little gathering here.

The entire DT got to play with some of Andrea's killer

digital images.  There were so many to choose from that I went

totally retro and used an image that she sent to me eons ago! 

I LOVE this little guy!

I also used a Tiddly Inks freebie image for the smudged portion

of my card. I went over it with a Versamark pen and then clear 

embossed it to make it stand out after all of my distressing. I also 

used a circle Spellbinder and embossed it with swirls from my

Cuttlebug folder. Then I added some metallic  purple pigment ink

and heat embossed it with an iridescent powder. 

Note to self: Emboss with folder afterIcutting the image with a Spellbinder. 

Otherwise, you end up flattening your embossing when you

run it through the Sizzix. Duh!

HDH072 Hell Hath No Fury...

...like a woman scorned.

Who didn't know?

This is a late submission for this week's

Macabre Monday challenge.

Basically, it's to represent a bad ass chick on a rampage.

This is a bit mild (and pink) for me, but hey, I've been sick!

This is 'Cheyenne'. 

I entered the Kenny K, "Name that Krash Kitten" contest a while back

and this is the image that Kenny chose to go with the name I submitted.

As a prize I won this image and two others. You'll be seeing them pretty soon. 

This started out as a Valentine's Day card, but once the challenge went out

and then I found this killer "sentiment" to go with my cowgirl, it was on!

(Sorry for the blurry pic - still getting the hang of the new camera.) 

I am rather proud of the coloring on this one. It's in some colors I rarely use,

but I have found that I have the right combo for a nice blended effect.

I got to use some "destash"  which would be the black and white snakeskin ribbon,

and the pink snakeskin paper. I added some bling and some embossed paper, and then

popped some Sizzix corners on for fun.

While I was out sick I was still being creative, but in ways that the snot

wouldn't run outta my face everytime I had to look down!

I made some cute earrings for my Etsy shoppe.

Cute coffin hearts for Valentine's Day.

Glitter and glass beads added to make 'em purdy.

And who doesn't love a coffin cupcake?

So cute, why not get two?

I made a bunch of coffin themed earrings and listed them in

my Etsy shoppe (link is in the sidebar) today.

I am open to custom orders and am willing to put anything on a coffin.

Anything.

HDH071 Bizarre Birthday

I've been nursing an extremely melodramatic eleven year old with a common cold,

and haven't had much time to create this weekend, so I just kinda tossed this card together

in between naps and vapor rub applications .

This week's Macabre Monday challenge is,

"Bizarre Birthday".  

I guess it depends on what you consider bizarre.

Then again, a zombie celebrating a birthday does seem a bit bizarre.

As soon as I achieve zombie status, I am throwing away my calendar and tossing

out my watch!

I found this image online somewhere a long time ago and fell in love and immediately

envisioned a really cool birthday card. Taa-daahh!

It was cool coloring a black and white image with my Copics to give it a subtle colored effect.

I left off any glittery bits and baubles and used some old stash items instead, like the brightly colored eyelets and the spiral clips. I am actually trying to stick to a goal this year of using my older stash items and tools.

Now I need to find that Stamp-a-ma-jig thingy, and my paper crimper.  

HDH058 Magical Mayhem

This week we have a "Magical Mayhem" challenge

for Haunted Design House's Macabre Monday.

Again, I assumed that my personal connection to the challenge would make 

this project a breeze.

Wrong!

Have you ever been so determined for a project and all of it's

elements to work that it ends up looking a bit forced or just not

even close to what you had hoped for?

Yeah, me too.

I have worked much harder on suckier cards, but I really had

high hopes for this one.

I broke out with my Witch board (like a Ouija board) image

and used Versamark and stardust embossing powder to give

it a magical glow.

Now I know the jury is still out on whether or not the Ouija board is

magical or not, but how can something mass produced by Parker Brothers

and sold at Toys R Us, have magical qualities?

Just a thought.

I have really been in to the cracked glass effect and wanted to use it on this image,

but the more I handled the embossed piece, the cloudier or less shiny it appeared.

The nice thing about embossing is that you can reheat it and start all over.

I ended up adding stardust powder to the image and then used clear thick embossing

powder to give it a final shiny finish.

I added one of my new frame nesties and some rhinestones to try to 

shine this turd.

Eh!

Please don't let this have a direct effect on your impression of the 

challenges at Haunted Design House.

The other gals on the DT are wonderful and pretty consistent with their

awesome projects.

Did I mention I don't feel well and have a TON of projects to be completed in the next two weeks? I'm a little overwhelmed.    

HDH057 Horrific Haunts

This week's challenge at the Haunted Design House is

Horrific Haunts!

No scary monster is complete without a house to haunt.

This week Barb and her minions challenge you to show

us a truly heinous house, a decrepit domicile, a shelter for the shameless.

You get my drift.

 

Although the photo kinda sucks, I clear embossed the entire

house image on this card.

I have had this set from SU for some time now and finally inked it up.

I love the image and just wish it photographed better.

HDH055 Elegantly Evil

I don't know what is going on with me lately, but I just can't seem to get my creative groove flowing. I have managed to keep a small trickle going but this is starting to get 

ridiculous! I have way too much schtuff to do!!!!

The challenge for this week's Macabre Monday is "Elegantly Evil".

I toiled and fussed and finally just went with a photo as my focal point.

I went through at least 50 pics before I settled on this one.

His name is Gary and he lives in my front yard.

I felt that Gary personified the whole evil elegance idea, although gargoyles weren't 

ever evil, but rather they protected against it. For the sake of this card, let's say Gary is evil. 

  

I bought a bag of feathers the other day and felt this was an appropriate use for them.

I embossed some blood drips, which now resemble cow spots to me for some reason.

I do like the feathers though.

Happy Birthday Macabre Monday!!!

This marks the 52nd posting for Haunted Design House's Macabre Monday challenge!

And finally, my card.

Now technically, there are three stamped images as I stamped the fence twice.

I just couldn't bring myself to add a sentiment or anything else. I have a tendency to add too much sometimes, so I decided to stick with "less is more".

I colored the rhinestones to match my project.

Man, I love my Copics.

This is the first time I have used this image from Stamp it Crazy, but not the last time.

She is so cool! Very regal or just kinda Victorian.

Either way, a very versatile stamp.

Okay, my obscure factoid is, 

I used to cut school to go to the Tower of Records (the original)

and get rock bands to sign my posters of them. Now, some 22 years later, I have signed posters from Quiet Riot, Queensryche, Motley Crue, Exciter, Megadeth, and W.A.S.P..

Who? Yea, I know, I shoulda stayed in school.   

Fiendishly Fun Friday: Kitties, frogs, and zombies, oh my!

Barb? Anything?

Okay, I am something of a night owl.

I rarely go to bed before 3AM, and I am usually working on my DT duties, 

or more than likely, I am blog surfing (blurfing?).

I find all kinds of cool stuff, and I get especially excited when I find cool

blogs like izombielover.  

This image really spoke to me, as it involves two of my favorite things,

Kermit the Frog, and zombies!

Jeremy of iZombielover is quite an artist, and has put a unique twist on what I consider to be pop art.

He manipulates digital images to make them odd or creepy (he can do pretty stuff too, if you're into that). He has some gorgeous black and white images!

He also does request work, so if you have an idea he can make something really 

unique and amazing for you.

Vile Vintage - HDH041

Just in under the wire!

Here is my entry in this week's Macabre Monday challenge.

The theme is "Vile Vintage", and when I started looking for images, I found some

slightly disturbing, old photos of kids(?) in their Halloween costumes.

  

I think the old masks were sooooo uber creepy!

My mom put on a bunny mask from circa  1975, and scared the bejesus outta me with the damn thing! Granted, I was 5 at the time, but I still carry the scar from it obviously.

This one definitely falls under the WTF?! category.

This was just too creepy not to use!

 

Purty fleur and a candy corn pin to finish it all off!

Gotta get this posted before the deadline!

Looks like I had better get an earlier start next week.

Bummer.  

The Bruise Brothers

Here is my latest creation using another one of my Torrente images.

This card is for the fabulously gruesome, "Ode to the Bruise" Macabre Monday challenge at Haunted Design House,

and the first challenge from The Burtonesque Dolls, to use stripes.

  

Barb at HDH, challenged us to use 'bruise colors' like,

black, purple, yellow, and teal(?).

Done, done, and done!

I really wasn't feeling the teal until I happened upon this perfect shade of

putrification.

I shredded up the ends a bit to keep it creepy.

I used some striped vintage paper I found at a yard sale years ago. It came in a huge roll and I also got a roll of the most wickedly delicious red, flocked, whore house-type/boudoir, haunted mansion, wallpaper. Can't wait to use that!

Anyhoo, the striped paper is really old, but it is so cool and it also has a really neat texture to it.

I'm pretty sure it's not acid free, but then again neither am I.
